A fellow I work out with at the gym, Mark is going blind in his right eye due to diabetes and an eye injury that will not heal.
He is right eye dominate and shoots right handed.
About 5 years ago I read a small article about people who were right handed but left eye dominate. I can not find the article and do not exactly recall the recomadation but it was something that allowed the person to still shot right handed an use thier left eye to sight. It may have been shooting right handed with a left hand bow. Im not sure.
I want to help this fellow out so he can continue to bow hunt. He will more than likely be blind in the right eye by bow season 2002. He could be totally blind in a couple of years. He does not have the time to reteach himself to switch over to left hand shooting.
I'd would appreciate some tried methods here or references to articles or whatever you can come up with to help this fellow.
Thanks.

I have a friend that is blind in the right eye and still uses his right handed bow. He adjusted his peep sight, and changed his anchor point. I think he draws to the left corner of his mouth and by adjusting the sights he was able to use his left eye. It took him very little time to adjust and shoots good.
Maybe have him try something like this by holding his bow up and seeing what and where everything feels comfortable.
I hope all goes well

I do exactly as Don K mentioned.I shoot my 30-06 left handed because of my dominant eye but I shoot my compound bow right handed and use my left eye and a kisser button which I put to the corner of my left part of my mouth
it did seem a little strange at first but in no time it was automatic with no problems.

I do EVERTHING left handed-gun, baseball, slingshot, write EXCEPT shoot my bow RIGHT handed. My brother shoots a gun, slingshot, writes, bowles RIGHT handed EXCEPT shoots his bow LEFT handed. We have both shot perfect 300 rounds indoors-Perfect animal rounds on the field course outdoors & have both killed many biggame & small game with our bows. My dominant eye is left & his is Right. We have no problems-If your eye is bad, switch to the other hand-you will adapt in no time...

Dan Fitzgerald is blind in one eye, but I can't remember if it his dominant eye or not...In any case it doesn't seem to slow him down AT ALL. Good luck to you.

WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST BOW, I BOUGHT IT FROM AN INDIVIDUAL, NOT AT A PRO SHOP. I DO MOST EVERYTHING RIGHT HANDED, EXCEPT WHEN IT COMES TO AIMING, I'M LEFT EYE DOMINANT. I DID NOT KNOW I NEEDED A LEFT HANDED BOW AND THE ONE I BOUGHT WAS RIGHT HANDED. I HAD A FRIEND HELP SET ME UP AND HE SET A 20 YARD PIN FOR HIM TO START OFF WITH. WHEN HE WOULD SHOOT IT IT WAS ON, BUT WHEN I SHOT IT IT WAS WAY RIGHT. WE EVENTUALLY FIGURED OUT I WAS SHOOTING RIGHT HANDED WITH MY LEFT EYE. WE ADJUSTED THE SIGHTS UNTIL THE WERE ON FOR ME AND I WAS O.K. AFTER THAT. I ENDED UP BUYING A LEFT HANDED BOW JUST TO GET WHAT I REALLY NEEDED. OVER THE YEARS I'VE LEARNED TO CLOSE MY LEFT EYE A LITTLE BETTER AND NOW I COULD PROBABLY SHOOT RIGHT HANDED OR LEFT HANDED. ANYWAY, I WAS ABLE TO ADJUST TO SHOOT RIGHT HANDED WITH MY LEFT EYE. I HOPE YOUR FRIEND CAN DO THE SAME.
