Treestand safety
What sysyetm if any do you use when climbing up to your treestand? I always buckle in as soon as I get on stand but haven't found a good system to use for climbilg up. Details or a good resource would be appreciated.

Yep, it's that time of year again. There is somebody on here....dad bernit....I can't remember who, but somebody has a system for doing just that. There's a rope afixed to the tree at the base, and you latch onto it while climbing........ahhhhh.....come on guys, help my defective brain out......
Summit Seat-O-Pants is a great system as well.

RE: Treestand safety
Summit makes a great climbing system pictured below. If you know anything about knots, you can make your own. In the picture you see a rope with some cord wrapped around it. That "cord" is tied into a prusik knot.
Secure one end of the rope at stand height, and the other end at ground level. Clip your safety harness into the prusik knot and start climbing. The prusik knot is designed to move easilly up the rope when there is no pressure on it. The prusik knot is designed to cinch down on the rope under load (ie. you fell)
Once you are sitting in your stand, remove your harness from the climbing system and lock into the tree.....VIOLA!!!!!
WARNING: A guy needs to know a bit about a prusik knot before he tries it on his own. If it is not tied correctly, it won't work.
