Did I spook it or not?

Today a big doe came at me from behind my tree. Idid my best to only move into position when the deer was walking or had its head down. It got to a point where it was directly behind the tree only 10 yards away and I couldn't peek at it anymore. This is when I slowly turned my bow verticle from a horizontal "on my lap" position. It saw the bow move, stopped, and started back in the direction it came from. As it was slowly walking away, it was looking dead at thesection of the tree where I was and gave me no chance to come to full draw.
I know it didn't see me because had it, it would've taken off alot faster than a slow steady walk. It also didn't snort or wheeze and of course never winded me. However, it obviously didn't like the unnatural movement of my bow in the tree. Would you consider this deer spooked? There is one more afternoon's opportunity at this big doe before the gun season kicks in on Saturday. I have other spots I can go to as well so would you just "cut your losses" so to speak with this big doe or go back for her tomorrow?

Sounds like you passed the test to me. She knew something wasn't right, but she also didn't think it was a threat to her...otherwise she would have ran. If I were you, with one day left, I'd pick the stand that I felt the most confident in, and if that's the stand she's at...hunt it!

I agree with west_hunter21. She would have jumped off tail to the sky if she made you. She just did'nt like the situation. She knew something wasn't right but wasn't sure what it was. Right now,if there were does in the area I would stick to that stand. The rut is on and where there is does there will be bucks...

She didn't like what she was seeing, but I'll bet you that the next few times she moves through there that she will check that tree out. I had the same situation happen to me and it turned into a ritual with that one doe and she would bust me every time at 33 feet up... real irritatating

Just cause they don't run off doesn't mean they didn't learn. She's going to go back and tell all her buddies to watch out for that white oak tree 40 yards above the draw north of the cornfield

That right there is why I stand 95% of the time. What if that had been a buck of a life time? I would hunt that spot again.
