Did I spook it or not?
Today a big doe came at me from behind my tree. Idid my best to only move into position when the deer was walking or had its head down. It got to a point where it was directly behind the tree only 10 yards away and I couldn't peek at it anymore. This is when I slowly turned my bow verticle from a horizontal "on my lap" position. It saw the bow move, stopped, and started back in the direction it came from. As it was slowly walking away, it was looking dead at thesection of the tree where I was and gave me no chance to come to full draw.
I know it didn't see me because had it, it would've taken off alot faster than a slow steady walk. It also didn't snort or wheeze and of course never winded me. However, it obviously didn't like the unnatural movement of my bow in the tree. Would you consider this deer spooked? There is one more afternoon's opportunity at this big doe before the gun season kicks in on Saturday. I have other spots I can go to as well so would you just "cut your losses" so to speak with this big doe or go back for her tomorrow?
