That supposed 125 shots seems to be inaccurate. Right now i am using a vent liner, made from a Holo-Krome screw, that has a little over 200 shots through it. It has been used in several breech plugs in several different rifles. The flash hole was drilled with a 0.028" drill, and it now measures 0.030". The count is accurate; there are two boxes of fired W209 primers sitting on the drill press, that were popped, using this vent liner.

Yes, they make a different BP designed to shoot BH209 that does not come with the rifle. Ron also uses his talents to take std BP's and turn them into a plug that can shoot 209 that has a replaceable vent liner. On the factory plug, once the hole gets too big (how many shots ?) you will typically have accuracy problems, then you have to replace the plug. On Ron's plugs...you just replace the vent liner for a few $ and you are gtg.

i knew about the plug but never heard of the vent liner or the issues with it getting to big i'm assuming that's some sort of erosion issue with the primers? who is ron and where can i get his bp ?

Yes, the hole erodes with each shot. How much exactly? How long will a factory BP last? IDK
For most folks, they will likely not wear out many BP's...they don't shoot that much. The factory plugs don't have a removable vent liner, so once the hole opens your option is to modify it, or buy a new plug.
RonLaughlin can take your factory plug and modify it to have a removable vent liner. He has done great work for many folks for quite a while.

Don't know what he's is talking about. Mine came with the tool.
Now I had the Mountain Rifle and then it was replaced with the Apex. Both had the tool. Maybe they stopped doing that.
Don't remember getting one when I bought the replacement 209 BP.
Now as far as the tool goes I never use it when I hand tighten the plug, only to remove it if it is too tight.

Are you saying the gun came with the tool? Why would that be needed? The BP is set at the factory. You only need the tool when you install a new BP so you can fit the BP to the barrel. Once that's set you never need the tool again.

when i looked for the new bh209 bp the only one i seen that came with the install tool was the black one to match the nitride finish although the bp is not nitride coated i understand that the bp would become to brittle if they were to go thru the nitride process and shatter possibly when struck by the hammer. the reason for the tool on first install is like a crush washer type of process where the front of the bp mates to the breech or barrel face for the first time then you don't need the tool until you get a new bp again. my gun did not come either the tool or bp which is why i started this thread i think cva is making a huge dis service to it's customers for not supplying them with the gun ! i won't ever buy another cva for two reasons the first is this fiasco i'm having to go thru to get what i need to shoot my brand new gun and the second is i have about 6 white rifles that i hunt with but if i buy a new mz it will be a knight rifle and if i don't find a breech plug soon i will sell this cva before ever getting to shoot it !!

fiasco?
You've spent so much time on here with a simple issue, you could have gone through 100 rifles by now, installing new plugs with a pipe wrench!
Its a very simple process.
Remove the barrel, install that new plug, use a pipe wrench or vice grips, clamp down, seat breech plug tightly, back it out, use fingers to snug it with the barrel and you are finished. This all takes you less than 2 minutes, And I only told you to remove the barrel from the stock so you don't hit the stock if you slip.
