I did not mean to infer that the consumer would be the one swapping barrels, although that would be wonderful. That is one thing sidelocks have over inlines.
What I meant was that if the barrels and recievers were two separate pieces then the rifle manufacturer (in this case Knight) would have the option of buying barrels from different vendors. As it is I think they are joined at the hip with Green Mountain.

Understood

That is one of the reasons i bought a Savage MLII. Barrels are fairly easy to swap if you have the wrench and there are some extremely good brands (Shilen, Krieger, Douglas and Pacnor) offered and some are direct swaps.

BTW i actually bought the LRH barrel/action and used it with some existing parts but i understand what you mean. It was cheaper than most barrels ive seen too.

I edit the post for those reason:
To all ,Reading the catalog , they say that all rifles are Green montain barrel.
But nowhere in the Knight presentation on each model they promote the use of GMB barrel in description neither Specifications.
If I refer to the catalog , I express you my apopogy for the mistake and will edit my post.

Here is the pdf 2011 catalog file

http://www.knightrifles.com/pdfs/201...atalog_Web.pdf
Knight continues in its tradition of accuracy & dependability by
exclusively using Green Mountain Barrels on every rifle produced

They do have a GM barrel and they all have the bore coating too. Including the Extreme and Bighorn models

I hope this clears up the confusion and rumors. I wasnt totally sure myself but ive heard from Gordy before the official release that they will continue to use GM barrels.

I also saw this on another forum where someone is spreading a rumor that they do not have the gm barrels on all their models. I then checked into it and they are in fact all Green Mountain barrels.

I think its the same person under a different nickname (i think). He was mistaken and Moose1 has usually been a pretty good guy. So i will just assume he made a mistake and was disappointed.
