Does anyone know if it is ok to dry-fire the Vision. I understand it cocks on opening. Without an external hammer, there seems to be no way to relieve hammer spring (if that is the correct term)pressure if the gun is just being put away.
Also - and here I am going to really display my ignorance, what is the best way to keep that camo barrel finish in good shape? Is it just a paint or some other kind of finish?
Thanks to all for any information.

With modern firearms there is no problem dry firing the weapon repeatedly. Just doing it to relax the hammer spring when you store the rifle is not going to hurt it at all. Just make SURE that it's not loaded. Safety first.
As for the camo... most current factory camo is dipped, which basically covers it with a thin film of camo patterned plastic. As long as the film is not damaged (scratched through to bare metal), then the metal is sealed and all it needs is just to be wiped clean after use. If the camo film is damaged, then the bare metal underneath becomes vulnerable to the elements, and should be treated with a preservative just like a non-camo gun.

Gus - if you are worried about damaging your rifle, you can keep a spent primer from a range session and put it in after cleaning and drop the 'hammer' on it.
I do that with my rimfires (.22 lr and .17HMR). Just be sure to wipe off the spent primer with solvent or gun oil to remove any residue.
