i dont find it illegal.
The state does and that is the only thing that matters.

Thanks for all the advice.

unbelievable, Im disgusted with the fact that we talk about an illegal act on this forum. lets just hand it over to the people that think we are all a bunch of slobs. It was illegal period. My concern would have been with my dad and not with a deer anyway. Even here in new york where we can sign over our doe tags(before hunting)our group doesnt. Not that I care who does but we enjoy the hunt. In fact once while on the blood trail of a doe i shot I turned around and saw a 175 class buck at 25 yards. did I have my own tags? yes did I shoot? no. It is illegal to shoot another animal here until you tag the first. I will probably never see another that big, But I can live with myself!!!!! D.

Atleast i didnt hit her in the gut like most bowhunters and rifle hunters do. And i sight in using the very edge of the sight. How many deer have u seen bowhunters gut shoot bcuz the deer took a few steps forward while the arrow was in flight? or How many animals have u seen gut shot bcuz the hunter with 5 rounds loaded in his gun spooked the thing and shot at it while it was running. I may not have hit the deer where i wanted, but the truth is, I got it in a better area and it didnt suffer. And damn was hre steaks juicy

You know what? If you can't see the difference between deliberating shooting a deer you have no tag for, using a rifle which you shoot a two foot pattern with "offhand" aiming, AND inadvertantly or unintentionally exceeding the speed limit, WELL, there is no hope I will ever reason with you. I am now beginning to wonder whether apple fell far from the tree. I'm done commenting on this.

Happy Hunting, Phil

Actually theres where u are wrong, i did have a tagfor it. It turned out to be an uncommon doe. Or thats would i think its called. It had zero antlers But turned out to be a buck. I had a buck tag which i never filled. So in truth, i had every right to take it.

Now my step mom used to work at Vail's hospital and a doctor working there was telling her and my dad about an elk hunt he went on and he shot a great bull but when he got up to it, it was a 3x3 and only 4x4's are legal, So he just left it. Now tell me, Was that wrong to do? I think it was a waste.
And another story from a Guy that worked at a prison with my dad, The guy went elk hunting with an outfitter, Its a huge hunting ranch in Craig Colorado. The guy shot at a bull and something was wrong with the cartridge and it fell way short, Hit a cow and of course it died. So the guide tells him to chamber another one and take the bull. So he does and the cow and bull are down. They went back to camp to tell the ranch owner what happened and that they will go get someone with a cow tag thats hunting on the ranch to go pick up the cow. Well the owner goes. No youre not! Im not f-ing charging someone to go pick up another animal that someone else shot, Just leave it for the coyotes. Now again, what would you ratherhave had themdo? Have someone with a cow tag, pick that cow up and take it home to eat or just provide a meal for the coyotes?

"But the moral of the story is, dad said take it out bcuz i cant move without ****ting my pants."

Your morals are skewed, as are your dads...[&o]

"But you'd have to know my father. When he says shoot it for him, you do it."

Outlaws breed outlaws... this would have been a perfect oportunity to teach an old dog a new trick. Obeying the law. What are you gonna teach your kids when the time comes???[&o]

The people in the stories you provided were wrong. How does that change your situation?

I know there are two schools of thought on this subject but I have to tell you. I am lazy by nature and I used to never unload my gun at the end of the day unless I thought mosture got in. Well while hunting one day a real nice buck messed up and actualy stopped 60 yards in the open from me. I put the cross hairs on him and took the chip shot (pop) was all I got the deer got real ansey and I put another cap one and (pop) again well the deer took off and I yell (somthing I can't print here) but it must have sceared the Buck and he turned and ran back toward me I coulden't belive it I put on anther cap and of course (pop) well that was that The buck was really gone this time. I walked out of the woods and went by my buddy and he said he herad 3 pops whats up so I told him and said this darn powder must have gotten damp and I capped the gun and said see aimed at a tree and (of course) BANG. it went off. So every day I unload my gun either by shooting it or taking out the breech plub out and pushing the charge out. I hope this helps some one who reads this to never have what happened to me happen to them it feels real bad. Mike
