Either that, or the guy was pounding on it, trying to get it down to line up with his eye!

now I am not the sharpest tool in the tool shed but even I know - if I pounded it I could form fit the metal - but wouldn't the glass break?

You know they make a whole set of that Pach-skin er whutever it's called. Midway has it in a couple of thickness for cheekpieces. I think 1/4" for one. If that stuff sticks and can be eventually removed, you might be able to have a better grip on that Omega while it sands your face!

UC

I am off right now to check Midway... thanks - I think 1/4" is all I need - I am going to try some leather this weekend - although i really want to shoot my Hawkin with that new GM SS barrel Saturday. I have got it dialed in at 70 yards but have not shot 100 with it yet. I want to shoot some of those zippy 200's from it...

All

Well I just fashioned a piece of heavy leather about 1/4" thick form fitted it to the comb - held it tightly to the comb with tape... did the close the eyes thing and opened them - really close really close to being right on. Certainly will work - but i would really like a little more. With the scope set at low power there is no problem at all but on 9 it gets a little touchy as i have to raise my head just an inkling...

It's beginning to sound like the gun just doesn't fit you. That isn't the gun or your fault You just may be too big for the thing. Can you buy a stock with less drop?

Most factory stocks are to short for me but I have not had a problem with the comb before... I am wondering if the the Thumb Hole stock has a higher comb but i do not want a thumb hole - in the end i will probably end up putting an adjustable comb on it... But then again if it only bothers me target shooting and does not present a problem hunting - I probably will not worry about it. After all it is a hunting rifle not a target rifle....

I think the basic problem is the length of pull and no cheek piece (montecarlo comb). I quite often run in to the same problem, I wear a 35" length shirt sleeve and most factory guns do not fit be it shotgun or whatever, many high end guns fit very well. After reading your post I checked my Omega out and have the same problem. When I shoot from the benchI practically crawl up the stock so I didn't notice it then. I mounted a 50mm scope with 1 piece high talley's. I will be picking up one of the cabela's cheek pads before hunting season. They are leather and look pretty decent, they lace on so you can move them top another gun if you have the same problem.

10-4 - I do not have the length of arms you have but most factory stocks are to short for to be comfortable.

I measured the distance from the top of the same scope to the comb on my Remingtons is 3" inches. I can get on them quite comfortably. The distance on the Omega is 3 3/8" I am thinking I need at least a 1/4" lift.

Right now i am avoiding the leather and cloth typeCabelas lifts because I am a bit worried about wet freezing weather here in Idaho. I worry about water freezing and absorbsion. I went to Brownells and found a couple of other lifts that will not absorb or freeze - I think. One of them should be here this week.

What kind of material are they made of, cordura or neoprene?
Let me know what you end up with and what it does for you.
