new kill
got this sixpointer yesterday at 7:05,i found some high ground in my swamp lastweek with a few beds so i got up and paddled back to the swampin the dark. Igot awillowtree that is leaning made a perfect pearch about ten foot high. I heard hounds far off coming my way then a splash and here he came, the water still dripping when the hollowpoint went through his lung area he was about 50 feet away, dang thing didn't even move. Even after the smoke cleared he was still standing then he bedded down for the last time. The 230gr xtp missed the ribs going in but it made two holes coming out. But in hindsite i wish now i would have waited because after i climbed down i went over to take a better look, flipped him over to gut when i heard more splashing you guessed it he was at least a tenpointer with a 12 or better spread. Hopefully he will make it till next sat. and come back to the same place,i don't think he saw me because i hunkered down and just watched him as the dogs got a little closer he went on through up into my woods, when the dogs made it to the water they split and went two diff ways so there must have been a herd.

RE: new kill
Nice deer. Here in MO it is illegal to take deer in any body of water, lakes or streams. We cannot use dogs either. Sounds like that way of hunting is sure fun. At least you did'nt have to drag him from the water hole which would have been a chore.
