last year i had a coyote sit about 30 yards away from me and i didnt shoot him, i was low on arrows,4 left, and that factored in my decision not to but i probably should have?? mixed emotions! my buddy wants to stuff one for his office and they have eaten alot of cats in my parts!

I have shot 2 coyotes in the past 3 years with my bow while deer hunting. A coyote killed one of my uncles cats 3 years ago and I promised him when I hunt there if I see a coyote I would shoot it for him. I have saw quite a few other coyotes at other places I hunt as well but never shot at any of them, just at my uncles.

I sure would. I' m not sure about NY' s laws, but i think it' s legal to shoot them year round, right? I personally wouldn' t be too worried about the cat population declining, but hey, I' m not a cat person. Plus, if you shot one arrow at a Coyote, and had 3 to spare, you still got enough for a deer. (should only take one shot).
Good luck out there.

I would love to take one myself but being from south central down the shore I just don' t think I will see any. But if I ever did I would love to.

I had two yotes within 30 and 50 yards of me a few weeks ago. It was the morning after I got a doe, and they were probably in the area cleaning up the gut pile.
Anyway, if your not going to mount it, and you surely wouldn' t eat it what else is there to do with it after the kill? There is a good population here where I hunt. I guess if the farmers complain about them, (getting into their chickens, calfs, or pets) I guess I would take one if given the chance.
With a bow I guess it is a trophy mounted or just in a picture.

Ny does have a season on Coyotes - but its open all bow season - and as long as you have a small game tag - they are legal game - and a real bow trophy to boot - I' d take one for sure - I' ve missed two with a bow - I' d have the fur tanned for the cabin wall.
Take one if you can.
