A couple of things to remember about breach plugs:
Always use some sort of quailty lube made for threaded applications, I use antiseize and love it.
Never over tighten your breach plug, finger tight is plenty. If you tighten much over this it will probably stick and could overstress the threads.
Some shooters will loosen and re-snug it every 10 or so shots if it is prone to sticking. I have not had that problem since I started using antiseize.Evenafter shooting dozens of rounds I can usually remove the plug with slightly more than finger pressure.
I hope you enjoy this bug you've caught, I know I do.

In the old days yes I would use lube on nipples and plugs but it does not work that great. Gorilla grease or CVA slick nipple is much better. When you do get a stuck plug using black powder Pyrodex or T7 pour a little water down the bore wait 5 min or so and it should come out easy.

However, I always used Birchwood Casey's 'choke tubelube" on the breech plugs in my MK-85...a lube with crushed aluminum particles suspended in it which give added strength.
Since an inline is not vented like a traditional caplock or flintlock, and the powder charges aresometimes heavier, there's surely greater pressure in the breech area, and I always felt my 'choke tube lube'gave a strong, safe seal compared tothe relatively soft thinborebutter...and the breech plug always unscrewed easily.
A quick check of your rifle'smanufacturers manualmight ultimatelybe the best place to look.

Hello PSEsilverhawk55. I use a lube that is a knock off of Super Lube. I get it at Radio Shack The Radio Shack number is 64-2326 and it is called Multi-Purpose Lube Gel. They should carry it in the store. I have used it on my CVA Kodiak .50 for over a year now and never had a problem. It has teflon and is good from -45°F. to +450°F. Not bad. I use it on all my blackpowder guns. Even the nipple screws and bolster screws of my traditional rifles and never have any problems. It's really affordable. 3oz. for $3.19. Hope this helps.

I have a CVA Staghorn Magnum which is very similar in design to your Eclipse. Of all my inline rifles, this is the one rifle that has never given me any problems with a stuck breech plug. Another thing you can do, finger tighten the breech plug only, then back it off just a little. It will tighten itself us as you shoot. Also while on the range I take a small screwdriver, put it in the breech plug wrench slot and just twist that breech plug back and fourth every 10 shot to make sure the plug is not freezing up. That is a great shooting rifle you have there. Use the right grease for the job and you will have no problem.

Speaking from experience, it's extremely important to grease both the breech plug and the threads in your barrel. Otherwise, good chance you'll get your breech stuck...this is bad. I wouldn't use the bore butter as the greasing agent for your breech.

You are obviously not using magnum 777 powder loads -- otherwise that plug would of been stuck-solid. I'll guess you are using Pyrodex, APP or Black Mag-3.
If you ever switch to 777, be sure to follow Cayugad's advice about the CVA Breechplug & Nipple Grease.... then crack the plug loose & re-tighten after firing every 8-10 times.
