I have done both CO and WY for elk (rifle) and if you have some equipment it can be relatively cheap. In '02 we did WY - $420 license, $300 tresspass fee, + ~$300 for gas and food. In '03 we did CO - $485 license (I think), and $200 gas and food for the week. If you are looking for drop camp - check Wallace Guides & outfieers in CO - they seem to have alot to offer.

In NZyou n do a free range hunt for $2000-$3,000 all up including airfares.
