Default shooting practise before next season

Now that most of us are done hunting for the season how much shooting will you do before next fall?At what ranges do you practise?I will probably shoot 300 to 500 rounds of centerfire and another 1000 to 1500 rounds of rimfire before I begin hunting next fall.My local range is 500 meters long(550 yards)so I will practise out to 500 yards with my centerfires and out to 100 yards with my rimfires.

SJ,
Since I'm an avid shooter and reloader I may shoot a little more than most. I usually fire approximately 500 rounds a month thru my .45 ACP and a litter more than that thru my S&W M-27. During prairie dog season I may shot as much as 1200 rounds a month from a .22-250, .222 and a .243. On top of that I experiment with several other rifles with different powders and bullets. Right now I'm enjoying wringing out a new .30-06. Next month I'm going on an Oryx hunt on White Sands Missle Range on a once in a lifetime type hunt. I intend to use a Rem. M-700 in 7mm RM useing a Sierra 160 grain HPBT as the primary rifle and the .30-06 with a Sierra 165 grain SBT bullet as back up. In the last three weeks I've fired 200 rounds thru these two rifles. It seems as if the hunt almost serves as an excuse to play with the toys.

I only have one centerfire, a Savage 110 30-06. I just went out yesterday, and only shot about 10 rounds because the temp. was about 20 and my fingers were getting numb. I will probable shoot at least 100 rds through my gun before my May bear hunt, and will be lucky if I get to shoot very much after that because of the fire season. Will be able to shoot again just a couple weeks before NV deer season and WY antelope season and thats about it.

I have converted to a longbow - and I shoot at least every other day. Stump shooting, spot shooting, shooting out of a tree stand in my back yard out to 30 yards - archery is a year long thing for me. Building arrows, trying different things, going to shoots etc - it never ends ...

I try to get out weekly to shoot off some quality practice rounds. I'd rather shoot 10 off hand shots from a stool (to simulate a tree stand) than fire off hundreds from a bench rest or with sand bags like most of the guys at my club do to get ready for the season.

Greets,
I usually start shooting as the weather gets nicer in the spring, between my hunting partner and I we go thru any where from 800rds to 2000 rds for our various centerfire rifles. In addition we put quite a large number thru our handguns, and since I am intent on resuming my use of my muzzle loader for hunting I will probably put a few hundreds thru it as well.

Just my uneducated opinion!
