Rob I volunteer my services. I'm a freelance aroborist...and I can detect and define foliage greenage by country, state and even county. I can even tell you if it has incendiary residue on it.
I have many talents.
p.s. Canada has internet.

I do not envy the decision you guys have to make. It will be a tough call. You all got me thinking so I called the Maryland 24 hour DNR line to confirm what I already knew. In maryland the seasons for deer are broken up into 3 distinct seasons, Bow, muzzleloader and shotgun. A person Can shoot a buck with the bow, then take his 2 doe and as long as he has an additional buck tag ( which any hunter can purchase ) he can take 2 bucks per season. Now here is the kicker ( which I just confirmed with the DNR ). A huntertakes abuck during bow season, now he can go out hunting during muzzleloader and shotgun season with a bow and shoot a buck againwithout taking the required 2 doe to use his additional buck tag.
DNR reasoning is thatharvesting a buck during muzzleloader and shotgun season with a bow counts toward those specific seasons. So now a guy has 3 bucks down and can simply decide which one scores best and enter it into the contest. Per the contest rules he shot whateverbuck he enters with a bow eventhough it may have beenharvested under the muzzleloader/shotgun season. I post this just for info purposes so you all can see the flip side of the coin and make an informed decision. A very tough call gents. Goodluck.

jmbuckhunter... that is not entirely true of Illinois. In certain counties near chicago there is no gun season and bow is the only legal means of taking a deer. Even while the rest of the state enjoys a gun season.

I definatly vote Yes. Simply because i live in PA i get one tag. Thats the decision i make If i shoot a lesser buck..... Thats my fault. Noone elses and if you shoot a little 3 on one side buck that score 12 inches hey you made that decision and you cannot take that arrow/bullet back. End of story.
just what i feel about the topic

SouthernMDArcher, The poll will decide it, that way no one person has the way. This is a great community and the decision you all make will be the right one...right?

I wondered why I seen some other threads saying someone else took over. I missed alot of things but I think I get the jist of what happened. I like the new rules and that wouldn't affect me at all. Thanks for all your hard work and patience Rob. You are much appreciated, sir! Respect!

Not that difficult, when returning home form a successful guided trip almost all people would be jumping at the chance to show their success to their teammate not to mention the whole bowhunting community we have here. I can barely think of any case that successful bowhunters haven't come home from guided hunts to showcase their hunt, especially when they've been the best buck ever.
Many people have friends here too, phone calls are made and usually word of the deer is on the board long before the succesful hunter has made it out of the woods. It's a great community.
I can't for the life of me think of a single reason why anyone would want to keep a successful harvest a secret.
If need be, that's what captains are for. To settle the what ifs, what the hells and the foul play.
Or laying on the ground, hanging in garages, hanging in trees etc...no way at all to determine that one. I know people cheat, that's a given and sad. It's just catching them that's hard. Shame on those who lie and cheat, it's hard to believe anyone could be so dishonest.

How exactly are these rules going to be enforced??
What about someone on a trip where there is no internet for longer then 10 days??

Sorry, I just posted the flip side of the discussion so everyone can be fully informed. Honestly until I just now seen the poll at the top of the thread I thought you and the moderators were making the decision and was simply asking us for input. I appreciate you all allowing me to be involved in the decision making process.
Thanks
