I'll use me for an example. Next year I'm going to IL for the rut, Nov 10th through the 15th. Let's say I shoot a buck in PA on the last hour before I leave for the trip. The way it is this year, immorally I could not report it and go on my trip in hopes of taking an IL giant and come home, enter it and never mention my PA buck. How sad that would be right?

With this rule I call someone to post that I got one, let's say an 8 point and when I come home with a 10 from IL, my 8 still stands.
OR, me again...when I hunt with GMMAT in NC in Sept next year I shoot a basket 8....don't tell anyone and then hunt PA and then IL and I dont' get. Wouldn't it be wrong at that point to say oh by the way, I shot this 8 point in Sept and I'm entering it.
reporting it will secure to everyone that I am not hunting for a bigger buck which wouldn't be fair to everyone who only gets one tag and has a 60" buck entered.
Why the emphasis on this aspect?? What is to secure the guy with one buck tag and a 60 inch buck entered that a pick in a truck, or garage isn't from 6 years ago??.......how about any deer taken while guns can be used?? No one will ever know if they were really killed with a bow?? Who knows if someone even really shot it and didn't just lay his bow across his buddies deer??Questions could be raised about every deer entered. It's odd that this one detail has drawn so much attention.
We should never let anyone have a buck to "fall back on" if we don't get a better one.
No amount of rules could ever change this........how is anyone ever gonna know when a deer was killed sitting in the back of a truck or hanging in the shed?
Instead of focusing on the areas where the contest could REALLY be abused we aretryingtosolve a problem that doesn't exist.
As always, I will follow whatever rules are in place.

I know there has been some underlying contempt for the buck atlas posted because he posted it after a later archery buck was taken and a month or so after he killed it. Guys, he broke no rules and no matter how you feel about him personally, he has NEVER been dishonest in fact he is probably the polar opposite of dishonest.
What he does do is march to his own drum beat and he always has. This does not make him dishonest only different...is that bad? I'm not here to defend Atlas, he pretty good at that himself. We have disagreed on many points but I have never pegged him as dishonest, quite the opposite.

No sweat big man........anyone who knows anything about this site knows what this is all REALLY about.
In 20 years of hunting in NY I have never even seen a deer bigger then the one I entered...........but I was holding out for something bigger
After all, if we have learned anything over the years, it's that I sit in NY and let all the small bucks go waiting for a monster.........QDM all the way for me
What's next??.......you wearing size medium shirt, me in scent lok from head to toe, germ not spooning a deer, buckeye shooting a spiker and Rob's buck having both sides of it's rack??Everyone needs to chill and get back to having fun...........I have had a simply amazing year of hunting and dragged out a beautiful big doe my dad shot this morning. Life is good.............thanks for the kind words and the PM.

I think we'd be better off to just let things go and thank our lucky stars the rules changesof the past and the recent rules changes didn't bear the names of the people who brought them about.
Let's shoot 'em and add 'em up. It's a rules change. Let it go.

IMO It should be and I thought it was,First buck killed with a bow. If you only get one buck tag and CHOOSE to fill it with a gun then you are out.If you have more then one tag the only one you can enter is your FIRST BOW KILL.But I do agree that it needs to be entered within 10 days.Thats more then enough time AND the date should be on the pic. We should also call it thebowhunting BUCK contest. Its been brought up about putting Doe's in and that would make a mess of everything IMO.

I just want Rob to be able to sign off of the computor and not have to think about the contest.
Even without anyammendments the basic rules are simple and easy to follow. The (KISS) concept of "keep it simple stupid" should apply. I hopeno one is thinking about the contest when they pop a deer with any weapon.
Thanks Rob. Nice Job!!
Your always gonna get people who sign up and are never heard from again and I doubt there is much that can be done and if you have an active team then just consider yourself lucky.

Ok, I missed the latest Soap Opera Digest, are we still having this contest? Did Atlasman shoot someone, and if so is he waiting to shoot someone bigger? Will Germ pay child support for his deer spooning love child? Oh the drama, oh the angst!
