Lever, too bad about the miss, you'll get him next time.

I haven't seen anything the last 3 times I have been out and I got poured on last night. A big storm came in a half hour before last light. I was hoping it would wait until I got to the truck, but wasn't that lucky. I did have a decent 8 pointer a few days ago, but passed on him because he didn't meet the goal I set for myself this year.

I did see a hawk try to get a squirrel and miss. Then the dang thing tried to get me. It came right at me and I moved my hands and it turned no more than 5-6 feet in front of me. He sat on a tree branch and then went after the squirrel again (the squirrel was actually in the tree the second time). The hawk never got him.

I'm not sure if I will make it out until next week now. I am going back up bear hunting this weekend and hopefully get the job done this time.

Hi fellas...we are headed to the farm around noon so I hope to be in a stand by 4pm. That's a little late for me but I'll take what I can get for today. We didn't go up last weekend....way too hot, so I am more than ready to go hunting.
Good luck to everyone and hunt safe.
Diann

G....I hope that big ol moon was better to you than it was for me. I didn't get to the farm in time to hunt Friday afternoon but my eyes popped open at 3:15am. Guess I was excited to get out in the woods. Saturday am, I saw 6 does and 5 young ones, all out of range. I went in at noon, worked on a blind for guns that blew down and went back out at 2p. I was walking along the edge of a bean field in the shade and jumped a doe that was bedded down in the beans. I was about 10 feet from her when she got up and it scared the heck out of both of us.[8D] By the time I got to my stand I was sweating like crazy. Peeled off several layers, cooled off and sprayed down again.......all for not. Saw one doe with a fawn and the fawn was at 35 yard, the doe was about 45-50. No shot there for me.
One of the neighbors hung a stand on the edge of a bean field the day the beans were cut, went back in the morning and shot a double drop tine that rough scored 183. I can't wait to see it. Especially since he shot it on the east end of the woods.....I own the west end[:@]. RATS.....although I'm sure there are several more in there. We will be headed back up at the end of the week so maybe with less moon and a little cooler weather, every thing will work out. Later guys. Good luck and hunt safe. Diann

Hey guys, just checking in. I didn't have any luck on bear in MN this year. The last time I went up, my bait was getting hit, but it was after dark. It was a fun weekend though, and the colors where amazing. I actually have more bear around where I deer hunt in WI than in northern MN. I think the bear and turkey's are keeping all the deer away from me...

If you don't hear from me for a while, it is becaue I am leaving on Wednesday for Elk hunting. Hopefully we have the luck we had last year. if not, it is still nice to get away from work/home and get to the high country.
