RE: 15- Team "Death from Above" Official Thread
I just got off the phone w/ my buddy who just got back from Milk River Outfitters in Montana. He said it was unreal. He is not one to exagerate and he said if the didn't see 50 + P&Y deer, he didn't see one! Sat alot of fields. Missed a high 130s 8 point and killed a 125" 8pt the last night. His brother took a 130" 10pt and our buddy took a 10 that scored in the high 140s.
He already rebooked for next year. He said it was nothing to see 60 head of deer per sitting in the fields. I guess Bill Jordan, Terry from Tinks, & the Moreheads were there. He said they were all very cool. |

Ron doesn't have to work Friday so I get 3 FULL days of hunting.......and with the cold front and a little bit of snow at the farm, it should be GREAT.....we'll be leaving when he gets home this evening. Good luck to all of you guys.....hunt safe.
Wear your harnesses. Talk to you Sunday when we get home. Diann |

Good luck.
That is great that you can hunt w/ your significant other... My wife wouldn't go if her life depened on it. I would like to get her out turkey hunting next year... I think if she saw some action she'd enjoy it. Season finally starts here Monday. We'll see what happens. |

Bad opening day here... Saw 4 in the am. Shot a nice fat doe... the shot looked good... I thought... Turns outI clipped her a bit farther back than I thought. I watched her walk off after the shot.... I got down, checked my arrow and found some stomach matter, but with alot of blood. I gave her a couple of hours and then snuck around to the back field where the hedgerow she followed goes to. I peaked around the edge and saw her bedded down up against a barb wire fence separating the 2 halves of the field.
I backed out can came back a couple of hours later... snuck around to see if she was dead and she was gone! I slowly made my way to where she was bedded and picked up a good blood trail. She bedded 11 more times along the 125 yard fence row! Then she snuck under the fence and walked the back edge of the field. She was bleeding really good, and then it began to slow up. I backed out and gave her another 3 hours and came back w/ my brother in law andmaybe only went another 30 yards and lost blood. I I went back last night w/ 4 guys and tracked her into a swamp / river area and lost her. I went back this morning and heard the coyotes going... Gonna try and get to that area this afternoon and see if I can find what is left. I am sick! |

Wow that sucks. I can't believe she got back up after bedding down. Good luck

I can't believe she got up after bedding down 12 times!
I'm still sick. I went out yesterday am and saw 4 doe out in the field. Nothing else. Nothing this morning. My brother in law shot a little 5 pointer last night. He's using those Crimson Talon Broadheads. They are lethal! |

Western....sorry about your doe. That sucks. Stay with it, you will have better days in the field.
I can hardly come back home on Sundays...just want to stay in the woods. I hope to have a week or two at the farm by myself here shortly. I've seen some really nice bucks....just not in range. Saturday night, I had just lowered my bow because I could no longer see my pins.....I was packing up the rest of my gear and still had my EZ hanger to remove when a big body buck stepped out of the woods 30yds from me. I was in the back corner of a bean field that had just been cut. I stopped what I doing and sat down....wind in my face. He walked towards me on my left side, rubbed a tree, walked in front of me....15yds......walked to my right side, hit his scrape and nibbled on his branch......all of a sudden I hear crunching and can see another deer coming out of the same spot 30yds across the field. Well by now, it is really dark so I'm thinking about the tiny flashlight I have clipped to the bill of my hat. It has a green led bulb. I turn it on and can see two really nice bucks. The antlers are hard to see but one is really tall. They looked to be 10pts each. Well, the first buck leaves his scrape and moves back towards the 2nd buck. They meet up 15yds out in front of me circling each other. In the mean time, my husband had been trying to get me on my radio, which was turned to no sound. I started flashing him with my radio so he would know I was ok. I kept flashing.....which is my signal for.....bring the truck, I can't get down to get to the 4 wheeler!!.....so here he comes. The bucks had just clicked horns a couple of times.....they heard the truck and just stood there. As soon as he turned the corner where I was, they stepped back into the woods. They never knew I was there and my green light was awesome. It didn't faze them and I could see what was going on!! Hope that wasn't too windy for you guys......girls like to talk ya know.:D I'll be back at the farm this weekend!! Good luck and hunt safe. Diann |
