WEnt out tonight, didn't see any deer but had bunches of squirrels and rabbits running around under me.. And some annoying wood thrush type bird digging in the leaves all over the place around me..Kept thinking "Is that a deer" and I would finally see the bird flutter up out of the leaves... You would think after an hour or two of this I would have gotten wise.. Heck, no...

Oh well, this spot looks real promissing..It is open enough to get a good few of things and there is quite the highway for deer there. Found a bag door in that will keep me from crossing any signifcant paths and come fall I will have almost 300 degrees of shooting access. The path is real beaten down.. I hope it works out in the future. Full moons and hunting.. SOme people tell me great time to hunt, others tell me deer are even more nocturnal.. WEll, the moon is waxing now so in a week or two it should be better... Hope to get out tomorrow night.. We shall see.

The only way I know how to do photo's is photbucket...I don't know how to attatch them and the whole process was not working a couple weeks ago...

Tough break Big Daddy... (I find it very odd calling someone big daddy btw) Hopefully he made it and will stumble on by again.

Gentlemen, it looks like the action is starting to heat up.

Bigdaddy - just give it a few days and canvass the area with the sniff test. If he's around, you'll find 'em.

IL - I'm guessing that the corn's starting to come down, and your woods are about to start coming alive with deer activity.

AR - that's a nice buck - Is that deer camp in the background??That camperlooks like a good place for some ice cold beer, tales of big bucks and wild women, and, of course, a littlepoker.

Sum - Good luck with that big boy. I look for those big ones to start moving a little more as this month progresses.

Mike - I can relate to you, I'm having a hard time finding time to get out in the stand. I'm kinda glad I took that little 8 pointer on the opener. My fiancee and I are trying to plan a wedding, and my social calendar is jammed when I'm not working. Once upon a time, there was enough time.

As for me, my quest to arrow the piebald doe was foiled Saturday when I only saw "brown" does, and a scrubby 3 pointer. I saw those does coming, and my trigger finger started twitchin'. I thought they were in a lot of trouble, but I held off. I left the stand early to go watch the PSU/Michigan game.

Keep at it fellas, there's a lot of hunting left to be done.

Sum congrats on the doe.

Big Daddy sorry to here that I know how it feels to loose a deer. I just lost a doe myself but stay at it and things will get better.

Well I have not had any luck they need to get the corn down and things should pick up good luck to all.

Two things are happening right now in regards to deer sighting improvement possibilities... Well three really. 1) The corn is coming down. Problem is most corn left is one guy's and he has thousands of acres left to Combine.. I told him it was time to get a second combine and he said he probably would... He is our main rentor so I have a very good relationship with him....

2) The leaves are falling now which of course allows you to see further... Also allows the deer to see you unfortunately.. and 3) The rut is coming and soon. I haven't even been seeing deer when I have been driving around at dusk. This warmer weather has them all out of whack as far as I am concerned..If I had a ground blind I would be hunting water right now... Need to buy one of thsoe this winter. Or three.

The last corn field was picked yesterday. It is over a mile to the
neerest food sorce now... Im not sure if that is going to be a good
thing or not.... before at least I would know where they are eating....
I will have to assume the acorns will play a big part this year... I
was looking at the pic. I posted, and that was the 9th of Oct. last
year... all the leaves are still on the trees this year so far... my
field hunting proved to be unsuccessfull again today... I am going to
try the 40 acre piece accross the street... it will just be a chore
getting in quietly...

The trailer!!! Its not deer camp but gets lots of beer drank in it in
the summer... some day I will have a place to call deer camp and this
gem will be the first land mark on it!!!

OH YEA... GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If nothing we have screwed a few good records for other teams!!

AR - I really liked you . . . at least until I found out that you were a UM fan. Now I'm not so sure.

Looks like a pretty good 1.5 year old with decent genetics. I'd have probably let him go for next year, but hey, to each his own. J/K

I'm gonna go read the story now. Troy, I'm starting to think that you operate a deer farm, and justpretend that you hunt. LOL

Big congratulations on that hog. I know you put in the time and effort into getting him, too, which makes it even more rewarding. By my calculations, that might put Team XX in the lead.

Man, I can just imagine how great that free HNI victory hat will feel on my head...
