Ok guys, I got good news and I got some bad news. Good news is I hit a buck at 6:20 this evening, bad news is I am a little unsure of the shot, I found my arrow, it has blood on it, but not alot, and it has a ton of hair on it. He was broadside at about 28 yards. I came home to eat, and give him some time to lay, then I am going out to look for him. My question is, it is only going to get down to about mid 40's tonight, if I cant find him tonight, is that cool enough to let him lay until morning? I am hoping to find him not too far from where I last saw him, but I am not going to tromp around in the dark looking, just in case he isnt dead yet. I will keep you all posted. ( by the way, he is not a monster by any means, I cold see 4 points on one side, but I couldnt get a good look at the other side, but for my first buck with the bow, I am more than proud of him.)

BigDaddy - I don't think you will have a problem as long as it stays in the low 40's. I shot a doe a couple years ago and I let her lay overnight in 45 degree weather - she was fine the next day. Back to your arrow...Did the arrow go all the way through (was there blood on each end)? If it didn't, was there any meat on the broadhead or bone fragments?? What color was the hair??? and one last - Didthe arrow stink???? Anyway, I wish you the best of luck finding him.
All -I connected yesterday morning at 9:10 witha big doe. She was hobbling thru the woods and I couldn't figure out why until I got a close up. Somehow, she had lost her hoof at the bottom joint on the leg. All she had was a round nub from the bone on her right front. I don't know if she got it caught in a trap or what. She didn't go more than about 40 yards. I sat there waiting and for her to expire and saw a monster. He came across the penninsula in the swamp about 60 yards from me and wouldn't get any closer - that's too far of a shot for me. He has at least 5 on his left side and boy is he a brute. I guessed him to be a 4 year old. If he is the same one I saw earlier in the season scouting, I would adventure to say he is close to 145 or 150 class deer. He is absolutely beautiful. It's funny though, I never see any big bucks where I hunt until after 9:30am and before 2pm. All of the 125"+ bucks I have shot, have all come within this time frame. Anyone else experience this.
NOTE: Sorry guys, no pics of the doe because it was 70degrees here yesterday. I went straight from the field to the cooler with her.

WELL did ya find that buck? Hope the story turns out well
I got a good sight at a buck (I never count the points on the first one). He was nice.. maybe an 8 point... I do not think he is the one I have a pic. of... seen him Sat. morning leaving the woods, he was pushing around some does in a grass field... I stalked up to about 20 yards from the last place I seen him but he had wondered off out of range and did not want to come back my way. Thought I would get the ambush on him this morning.... put up a stand about 4 am and sat in it till 10 am... I am sure they are smarter than I am... did'nt see a thing... put up in a lone group of two trees and some good size saplings around, in the edge of the field... I like this stand so far... I can see a long way being in the field.... man I wish I could be in the right place at the right time. I know they are out there but just not seeing them.. I will try again in the morning.... good luck to all..

Well, deer 1, BigDaddy 0. Mywife and I went out lastnight after supper. It had been about 2 hours since I I shot him. I found the arrow at the spot that he was standing. Arrow had blood, meat, and lots of white hair. It was a complete pass thru. There w no bone on it. Did not find any blood for the first 50 yards, but there was a huge spot of blood at about the 50 yard mark. I should mention, that I dont think he ever bedded down. we had a great blood trail for about 40 yards or so, and then he went back into the woods and the trail sarted to sow down a bunch. I started to hear something just in front of us a little ways, so I decided to back out and go back this morning. well, after looking for 5 hours today, we only found 1 more spot of blood. So we started to do a grid search but came up with nothing. I am sick!!!! I am going back out this evening, and I will be back in that same stand, who knows,he might be ok, and show up again. Oh, I forgot to mention, the last spot of blood we found, was really thick, looked like it might be clotting.
