Shed,
Great bull. Can't wait for the story. Got 2 nice future hunters there too. I'm sure they are proud of Dad.

Anthony
Glad the corn's getting harvested, hope it brings those deer where you need em to be.

Nice bull Troy! Glad someone is having some luck, I am beginning to think all the deer in my area left the county. I have not seen anything the last 3 times I have been out. I think this weekend I am going to venture back into my area a little deeper, and see if they are hiding back there.

About your question Troy. I would not change the way I hunt if I were not iin this contest. I hunt becouse I love the outdoors, and becouse I enjoy all of the wildlife that you see. It is nice to get away from the hub bub of the day, and just enjoy the piece and quiet. I am glad that I joined this contest, it has been great meeting everyone on our team, and getting to know you all a little better.

Troy - Great Bull! I love the pic with the kids.

I've been out the last couple evenings, but no luck yet. Monday night, I took my 4 y/o daughter with me (she loves to go). We set up in a pop up blind in a fence line overlooking an alfalfa field. We probably saw a total of 40 dee in the field and 4 small bucks - no big ones. I absolutely loved seeing the smile on her face when those deer were about 50 or 60 yards away. She just doesn't understand why we weren't shooting them. One of these days, I'm going to get lucky when she's with me.

I will comment on the contest later
I have got some sleep the last two days and ready to hit it again... I have a pic. of a buck from the 3rd at 3 am. You can count 8 points on one side and 6 on the other from the pic.. I hope to get an arrow in that big SOB. Wish I could just get a view of some horns.
Good luck to all

Congrats on the bull, Troy. Great lookin' animal, and the kids look pretty wound up about it. They did the dragging for the old man, right?

I guess I'm with the rest of the crowd here, b/c I wanna hear the story.

---------------------------------------------------------

Sidenote: I found a HUGE community scrape this morning before work, while I was out scouting the new farm. There's a thicket that juts out into an isolated soybean field. About 10 yards into the field, there's an area, about 5 yards by 8 yards that is pawed down to the mud. There are hundreds of deer tracks in it, and flies buzzing around it (which indicates that there is some urine/droppings in there).

My buddy is hunting any legal buck, do you think it would be wise to put him right over this scrape all-day Saturday?? (Even if a buck comes, there'sa 90% chance that he screws it up anyway, LOL. I just want to see him get a shot, or evenjust SEE one)

Keep in mind that this scrape is on top of a hill, and is visible from a couple other fields. My guess is that most/all of this is nightwork.

I've just never seen a scrape so huge, and so heavily-used. Please advise. My guess is that he might stand a pretty good chance at dawn/dusk.

Unless there will be a TON of ML hunters messing things up for him I would be willing to bet at some point a buck strolls past that scrape. Last saturday I watched a 2.5 year old come down a field edge around 9 am hitting the scrapes, that was fairly late. Then at 10 a small buck pushed 5 does past me. I'd set him up there since he's looking for anything. He will see one.

As for me, I'll be tucked near the edge of this monster thicket hoping to catch mr big coming back to bed. Plus I don;t know how much this area gets hit with ML people, so maybe holding tight to cover will help. And for the record this ML season and rifle seasonin the middle of archery just turns my stomach[:@][:'(]

Good luck all who are out this weekend.

I'll probably perch up in my stand where I can see that scrape, too. I am 100% confident that my buddy will NOT get anything. He's terrified of heights, he moves around constantly, and he's pretty big and uncoordinated - and scared of the dark, to boot. I'd give anything to see a legal buck wander down the field edge, and see what kind of crapstorm whips up. LOL.

The last time I took him out, he said "I don't know how that deer picked me out, I'm up here like 20 feet." I reached up and grabbed the bottom of the deck of his stand, and said "Nah, that's about 8."

This guy's a Hoyt Pro shooter, and ranked in the top 30 at the IBO Championships at Snowshoe last year, he just never really learned to hunt. I get a really good laugh every time I take him out.

For chrissakes, if he kills a deer, I'll never hear the end of it.

Hey guys, taking the day off from hunting. I think my wife might want me home since its Friday night. But I will be going back out tomarrow evening. I am going to a different stand deeper in the woods, along the river. I like it back there, but I usually dont go back there until just before gun season starts the first weekend in November. HOpe everyone is doing great, I think its time for someone from our team to get us on the board again.

And yes, I did get the shirt Troy, thanks a ton, it looks great, and it fits perfect.

Hi Guys - sorry I have not had time to post for a few days - have read them a couple of times, took a couple hours off for supper and to see the family then was back in to work till 4:00 two nights this week - and was in at 5:00 this morning - so this will be short.

Shed nice bull - go ahead and post the story (we should be able to make an exception via a vote and I think I heard an aye from everyone!!)

Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Mike
