Way to go quick! You weren't wasting any time this year.
I drilled a doe this evening. Hit her farther back than I'd have liked, but she was angle away and pile up in under 50 yds. So it'll be fresh tenderloins for breakfast
THis morning I had a good hunt, saw 3 bucks, all were sparring and one made a few scrapes. The biggest was a 7 pt that was not quite a shooter for me. Saw a bunch of does this morning too but didn't take any shots. I saw a red fox this morning, and 2 coons in the evening.

Congrats on your buck!! I haven't forgot my bow but did have to go back home for my release last year. I did forget my bow on top of my truck when I got done with a pm hunt a couple years ago. Started driving and had a feeling I was forgetting something. Got a half mile down the road and it dawned on me. Took a fast look in the back ( extended cab ) and confirmed no bow. Slowed down and rolled to a stop. Got out and the bow was still on the roof of the cab. About had heart failure on that one!! I got lucky.
Again, congrats on your buck and getting your team on the board.

Guys, check out this buck that was killed Saturdaynight in Greene County, PAabout 15 miles from my hunting spot- I hope these pics upload.I was w/my buddy while he checked in his doe for the big doe contest, and this guy pulls in with this thing. I have no idea what a deer like this would score, but WOW. I've never seen anything like that around this area yet. My man was pretty happy, and rightfully so. I had the biggest buck at the check-in until that thing came in[>:]
Rybo - big props to you on getting that first kill in. It's nice to "blow the bugs out" early, and dig in while you wait out a buck. I was gonna shoot a big doe Sat, but as luck would have it, I didn't make it that long. Also, it does a lot for your confidence when you make a killshot early in the game.
By the way, in those pics of my deer, you guys can only see the exit wound. Let me tell ya, those Muzzy heads did an awesome job crushing that deer's shoulder at the point of exit. The arrow entered throught the ribs on the other side, took out the lungs, nipped the heart, and absolutely decimated his left shoulder before passing through. The blades were undamaged. I've used those heads for a long time, but I was still pretty impressed.

Congrats Quick - nice buck and you too Rybo - you guys are making me hungry!
IL - we learn something every day! - I thought that shell bark and shag bark were the same thing - I will have to check out the shag bark and see what they look like! Those tree books come in quite handy especially when you are spading & transplanting trees. Besides just being plain interesting!
We hung some stands - moved locations on both my and my brothersmain stands - same area just better placement w/in 50 yards. We hung one in a spot we had been considering for a couple of years and saw two bucks of the pig/shooter category in the process. The one had a couple of kicker tines - which is strange for there since virtually all we see are clean racks - guess we should probably cull the mutant!
Good luck to all!

Crickie... That is a nice buck.. Certainly a unique rack, looks like a lot of nice mass to it too... I wouldn't chase him away from my deer stand...
Congrats on the Doe Rybo.. Didn't get out today at all, and it stormed most of the day anyways so it was a good thing I wa 100 miles away in suburbua visiting family... Again.
Shellbark, also know as Big Shagbark and king nut. Has thicker skinned nuts than Shagbark (Which is also called Shellbark and Scaly Bark) and has a larger number of leaflets (7 per pinnate vs 5)...It is a real pain because depending on where you live some of these hickories are called one thing and other places a whole nother.. There are like 5 different ones called pignut, some are highly palatable and others are bitter. Fun. I will be hunting that grove soon.. Well, not tomorrow, tomorrow I need to change the oil in the tractor, load a couple tons of scrap metal and so some more cleanup around the farm... Fun.. Really..

Gentlemen - I hope all is well on your end of the wires. Good luck on all your endeavors afield.
Tonight, my assault on all things brown and furry culminates in a Trophy Doe Hunt behindthe house. I'm pretty much just gonna sit there, and hope alegal buck comes by, so that I can stick my buddy up theresome night later this weekand let him shoot it.
I borrowed a recurve from a friend, so I'll be flinging arrows all over the place as soon as I get a chance to practice a bit.
My luck, now that I'm tapped out, some freak of nature booner will come frolicking through the woods and bed down under my stand. I'll throw my bow at it, I swear.
I'm feeling confident in our chances to win this thing.

Quick congrats on the buck and getting us started out on a good note. It is a nice looking buck.
Ryan congrats on the doe. Was it big enough to win the money or did you even get signed up?
I hope everyone else is doing better than me. I didn't see much this weekend. I was going to the stand on sat. at 5:00 a.m. and I jumped a couple deer about 100 yards from my stand. I was not happy but nothing left to do but hunt. I had a doe come in around 8:00 at 50 just to far for me to shoot. Then at 10:30 I was just heading to the truck and my wife calls and says that something has come up and I won't be able to hunt sat evening or sun. morning. So I went out sun. afternoon and at 4:00 I finally saw a buck it was right under my stand but it was only a BB so I let it walk. Then at 6:00 a small doe came through at 25 yards but she was to small to shoot. That was all the action I had this weekend hopefully it cools off and the activity picks up.
Well I hope everyone else has good hunting ahead and we all score a buck.
