Default Salt Block

Last summer I decided to put a salt block at my tree stand to attract more deer for the season. There was plenty of sign there. When the season came around I didnt see a thing not one deer. Why is this? Do Salt and Mineral blocks actually attract deer to come near your stand after you take them away (since they are used to going there for food?)

We have a number of licks, usually a mixture of trace mineral salt and Di-Cal. Usually the majority of the usage is in the spring and summer. You will probably have more luck hunting near/over food sources or hunting scrapes and trails.

I believe that the deer use the licks more during the growth and hot weather periods (spring and summer). Their needs are lower in the late fall and winter.

I' ve got a forty year old lick on a hilltop in the middle of our timber. They' re wearing it out right now, but by the end of july, you' re lucky to find one hoofprint in it.
