Although I have a few different plots out of Pranelly , clover , turnips, etc,
I,m looking to plant a section 1/2acre to 1 acre in size with Buck Forage Oats.
Last few years I tried planting with the designated times on the seed packages , But we never seemed to get enough rain during the selected times .
Anyway I,ve never planted the Oats before and would like to try it .
Will it be o.k. to plant it a little earlier say this weekend or next weekend ???
I figure it would get a little more rain and a chance to grow .
Any disadvantages ???
Thanks for any feedback ...

I dont know where you live but here in central Illinois I have found the later I plant the better. If it gets to tall the deer seem to not like it as much.
Labor day weekend or the weekend after labor day work out real well for me.

In south Bama we try to plant BFO'saround the 3rd weekend of September, but if there isn't sufficient moisture don't waste your time and money on any type planting.
