As high as I can get with my portable, without limbs obstructing my view. I build my wooden ladder stands on 12' 2X4's just because I'm old and too weak to set up anything higher<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.

The higher the better I agree. But I can't get very high because I am absolutly terrified of heights. I normally put mine up 10-14 feet. I had my stand up to 22 feet last season and I couldn't sit in it long enough to make it productive because I was to scared. Any one else have this problem?
