I am sure scent block suits help and when it comes to a deers nose we can use all the help that we can get but, You can never be 100% scent free. There is no way. Also, anyone wearing so called scent free rubber boots think again. What do they think rubber boots smell like? RUBBER! The next time when your setting in your stand on a sunny day smell your boots, the heat of the sun makes them worse. It may not be human scent but it is just as bad. www.pbase.com/mlo3135127

here is also a test in the woods I did, I took human scent from my arm pits, head and hair... on a t-shirt and put it in the woods after it was 3 days old. It never botherd a single deer, they all smelled it and where cautioned but it didnt cause them to run. The point is they know the difference between live human scent and other odors in the woods. So even if you wear the scent lock gear (which I do) live odor still releases from your pours constantly.

Wash your hunting clothes in an UNCENTED soap, then soak in Strong Arm baking
soda for 4 to 5hrs, hang up and let drip dry. Place in plastic bags and don't wear them
till you are ready to go hunting.WE hunt in heavy Pine and Cypress tree areas,so when
the clothes are dried, we give it a Very lite spray of Siberian Pine Oil.It's a natural cover
scent and keeps the skeeters off. Investment about $4.00.
Another thing that is very important is reading camo clothing labels.Make sure the dyes
are not UV enhanced, a deer or elk can see in the UV spectrum and they can spot you
at a 1000yds or more.US military camo does not have UV enhanced dyes.I try to find
camo clothing at Goodwill stores or Army surplus stores.
Last time I bought 5 Marine Corps camo outfits for $50 like new.
Also, one thing that will spook a deer from comming close is, if you Urinate around your stand.
Just my 2 cents.....

I agree that human scent is the worst for deer to smell and deer do get used to alot of every day smells, but rubber boots are not an every day smell to a deer and they associate it with humans. Its not like there are boots laying all over they place in the woods for them to get used to.

Rubber does not absorb odours, so therefore it will not leave scent or smell in your tracks. Unlike other materials such as leather. Deer may or may not be affected by any given smell but you can rest assured anywhere they smell human scent they are alerted so the chances of being picked off dramatically increase when they have wiff of your presence.
As to the original post I don't use scentblocker clothing, I hunt with the wind in my favour and take every precaution possible/reasonable. I bank my success on my homework by way of scouting and knowing their routines then implementing it with wind direction of that given day. I don't hunt from tree stands as I need to be mobile.
The info Todd gave was the exact same thing I heard from a buddy who works with Activated Carbon and I took his expertise as I had absolutely no clue. I personally think it is valid and of worth when considering any gear to take someone expertise/training/knowledge, we all make are own decision in the end any ways.
However I must say I am a great believer in confidence and say anything that makes you feel more confident as a hunter than you don't need to justify your reasoning. I certainly don't need all the gear I have but if it breeds confidence than it is well worth the money spent. I don't expect everyone or anyone to agree or understand my reasoning but then again why should I really care I hunt "FOR ME" not to appease the crowd. Long and short wear or buy what you want, expect opinion/debate but in the end you made the justification and no doubt nhave reasons to back up that desicion.
Is it hunting season yet?????

I realize rubber does not absorb odors, I know that. What I am talking about the rubber boot itself. Smell it, you will smell an odor! Take new ones off the store shelf, they are even worse. The smell of rubber from your tree stand will spook deer. While sitting in the sun your boots will produce even a stronger odor. Any smell out of the ordinary will simply spook deer. ( I guess I can only speak of deer from my area) Sorry to get off the subject of scent blocker suits.
