I agree that human scent is the worst for deer to smell and deer do get used to alot of every day smells, but rubber boots are not an every day smell to a deer and they associate it with humans. Its not like there are boots laying all over they place in the woods for them to get used to.
that is a understandable point. I'm not sure if it would spook a deer, or if the spell would just be brought to there attention. I personally have never had a deer smell where I have walked when wearing rubber boots. I'm intested in further opinion.
