Every year they took on the pistol team and beat them. I hunted and killed deer with a bow so he decided to try it. ONE year. He became so rattled when he saw a deer that he would miss the whole deer. He gave up and went back to target shooting. If you can't control yourself when a deer comes along, don't take shots you can't handle.

Gosh, it does sound like you are something rather special! Well, at least in your own mind, anyway.

***You are one real wiseacre with your BS speculations, as I've hunted for 60 years and have killed over 100 deer, elk, antelope, and hogs at various distances from spitting on them to over 300 yards!!! This year alone I hunted five states on a three month trip that involved the taking of a bighorn sheep, 2 bull elk, 2 cow elk, 3 antelope, and 2 mulie bucks. What were you doing this year other than shooting your mouth off on this Forum?

Head shots evidently aren't up for a reasonable debate. I say head shots are situational opportunities for those who will take it. I am personally not one to try it.

Maybe that would be a little close to home. To read this forum there are hundreds of deer running around with their jaw shot off. I have yet to see one and I have found dead, or shot so many wounded deer I could not even give a rough estimate on the amount. I hunt public land and do a lot of walking. The guy taking a head shot is not the problem. The guys shooting at the the "Vitals" (What ever the hell that is) are the problem. The guy at the range with the special gunsmith built rifle that can only hold 4" at 100 yards is the problem. If you ever did see a deer with the jaw shot off, the chances are it was by some guy aiming at the "Vitals". I am not joking about that. If you would not take a front or rear headshot @ 50 yards, either your rifle is less than accurate or you are.
Calling lots of guys on this forum, whom you do not know, that can't shoot because you are having an arguement with just a couple of the members is sure stirring the pot wouldn't you agree?

My Remington 541-T, equipped with a Leupold compact scope that I sent back to Leupold to have parallax adjusted to 75 yards...I also added a shim under the stock to put more pressure on the barrel as I would get a flyer out of every 5-6 shots...

She will hit a dime at 50 yards...

Dad's is the remington 541 t hb it has a 4-12 Simons pro hunter 5 shots in a nickel at 50 yards. Only thing done to it was trigger worked on to brake at 1lbs. He bought it new for $300. Had people offer $800 plus. He took it squirrel hunting a couple time but to heavy to lug around in the woods. Like to get a rem 541 t to hunt with. Haven't found one under $600. Know harborfr will shot head shots on squirrels.

Talked to a guy the other day he kills deer in golf course. He uses a suppressed rifle in 22/250 and only takes headshots. He said he goes around the eastern United states and kills deer on golf course.

I was out in WV and PA hunting rough public land, not on some pay hunt. I am not impressed TOPGUN. It always comes down to "I killed hundreds of deer....". I don't care how many deer you killed and don't even know how many deer I have killed. I don't need to put a notch on my stock every time I shoot a deer. Take a look at the girl with the rifle in one of the previous posts. Sounds to me like she actually knows what her gun will do. I own a few different rifles and know the capabilities of each one every time I hunt with it. The majority of wounded and maimed deer out there certainly is not due to intentional head shots. I shot a doe once that had a front hoof freshly shot off. What part of the deer do you think the guy was aiming at? Probably the head? d80hunter: "If the shoe fits.....".

I say if your confadent in your ability then go for it. I shot one in the head, two others to finish off. Will I take a head shot again probably, I know that me and my rifle are capable to do it. I use a muff gun that if off a little it will still mock them down to get a mother shot.

***Who the he** said anything about a paid hunt, LOL! FYI everything was killed on public land hunts like I always do. The only paid hunt I've ever done was a 1994 horseback hunt in Wyoming and it didn't light my fire that much with someone taking me around. I have no idea how many animals I've taken since I don't count kills. That's not what hunting is all about, but was just my attempt at stating I'm no beginner. End of discussion since you seem to be the expert on everything, including people you don't even know!
