Default Scent Canisters

I have heard that you can make a scent canister from a film can. Can anyone one tell me how it is done?

put a cotton ball soaked with your scent inside the film canister attach a string to the canister when you get to your site remove the cover and hang the canister on a branch

For years I have used a 35mm film canister and tape a clothes pin to the canister. A ball of cotton soaked in your favorite scent inside. The clothes pin is about as hassle free as you can get.

I use tampons, they already come equipped with a hanger system[8D]. They work great and swell so they have maxium wind drift to help get that scent out.

Only time I would even think about touching those things, is when a buck could be the end result!

I use tampons too , just make sure they are the unscented kind . The new gel core types will hold the most liquid , the panty liners work well too and have their own adhesive for fastening to branches . In the field I' ll usually use 2 , one with doe and one with buck tarsal / semen scent . I keep them in zip bags to prevent them from drying out between hunts , and to make the scent last longer . You should see the look on the cashier' s face when I check out ... [&:]

You can also use the new AirWick sent bottles they work like the sent bombs by Tinks. With a little mods. you have a pretty big sent container with a huge sent wick, much more than the tampons, but the tampons work pretty good too.

Jred ,
those Airwick fresheners already have some pretty powerful scent in them , and you' ll never clean them well enough to fool a whitetail' s nose . They may also put too much scent out , from experience there is such a thing as too much .

Kevin,

That is a good point. But one you fill them with bleach and let it soak (the wick) this will pretty much take care of the old floral sent.

Once this is done you let in dry out on it' s one and you dont smell any thing.

The size of the wick now? good question.....
