No Baiting Ban

The act of placing bait and hunting over it for the soul purpose of killing an animal.
Here In Wisconsin you can place 2 gallons of bait (Corn, Apples, etc..) per I think 40 acres and hunt over it for Deer. This is only in certain parts of the state.
Where I live baiting is not allowed.
Not sure on the bear baiting laws.

Interesting though it does seem kinda lazy, don't you think so? You don't get people here using tree stands, well all spot n stalk - traditional here.
I've never known anyone to do that here, never knew of it in the first place until I saw this thread.

Yeah I am not for baiting but with Archery tree stands seem to be the way to go. I almost had one from the ground this past season but couldnt seal the deal.
Now gun season I do a lot of tracking and spot n stalk but it still seems the taking a stand method works best because of other hunters moving the deer
around for you.
One of these years you need to swap hunts and see our methods here in the states as we need to see yours, would be fun.

Funny you should mention it because Im going to my boyfriend's dads ranch in MS during the month of December to hunt whitetails. He loves hunting here too because of the diversity.

baitings illegal here in IL, and doesn't wis hav esome of the worst chronic wasting problems? i remember a year or two ago they wanted to shoot like every deer in certain counties, forget the term......contain/etc....
baiting does seem like cheating, if anything id support more of a broadcast feeder style and not during season, kinda like winter feeding etc.....

I wish they would do that statewide here in New Jersey. Most NJ hunters hunt over bait, and kill alot of deer then claim they are great hunters. Baiting is for the lazy person, one who doesn't take the time to learn the woods, deer movements, I call these hunter "The Y2K Hunters". Where I hunt here in NJ, there is no baiting allowed, thank GOD!!!!!

That could be pretty bad for all those folks who have been training as apprentice baiters and are just about to graduate to master baiters.

Baiting is illegal here in Iowa, but that doesn't count food plots or "grain spilled incident to normal agricultural activities". I does include salt licks, etc. Where I hunt, I usually put out a mineral block in about July and set up my trail cam to get a good look at what is hanging around. All traces are gone by the time the season starts. I hunt in woods typically surrounded by corn fields, so we have very well corn fed deer.
