New England Deer Hunting

RE: New England Deer Hunting
I hate to but a damper on your move, but I was born and raised in Vermont. I moved away several years ago. Vermont has the worst whitetail deer hunting in the U.S.(Not my opinion here....it's a fact documented by several reports I've read rating deer hunting across the country).Very few bucks ever reach maturity and just seeing a legal buck is a challenge. You'll find many hunters who go several years without shooting a deer. There are a few big bucks killed every year, but very few. Most of the guys and gals in Vermont who are diehard deer hunters go to other states to hunt these days. Many go to Maine and New York and a bunch now go to NW Ontario. Even the famous Benoits no longer hunt much in Vermont. They go to NW Ontario every year as well as Maine.

I have to disagree with just about everything you just said. I the last couple of years the deer hunting has been great. If I go more than two years with out shooting a buck it is by choice. I don't shoot the first three pointer taht walks by. The only people that do not see shooter bucks are the ones that don't scout and just walk around in the woods hoping to see a deer. Many people do go to other places to hunt because you don't see alot of B&C bucks in vermont but there is alot of big bodied mature deer.
