Default Thompson Center Encore??????

I was seriously looking into getting a Thompson Center Encore for my big christmas gift. I want to get the hunters package, it comes wiht scope, mounts, rings, and a locking hardcase. I want to get it in .308 Win for some PA farm hunting/ Drives on teh weekends. Other then being single shot I really like the gun.

So heres the question....

Does anyone have one? Do you like it? And is there many downsides to having it?

Thanx alot

Cord, That is the caliber i would get but here in PA that is too much gun for the houses taht close together. And thats an over kill for our deer, But i do like that round.

DL55...I bought an Encore when they first came on the market...execelent gun! I own a &quot;few&quot; barrels and everyone is accurate,my 25-06 26&quot; barrel took a woodchuck at 503 yards last summer! The only thing I had done to the Encore was get a trigger job..it was around 5lb. and I sent it to www.virginvalleyguns.com to adjust it to 2.5lb. You won't be sorry if you get one...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hunt Safe!

My cousin owns a encore contender and he wanted to change it to a rifle and they cost at least $400 to convert them over from a .308 to a .243. I have shot it before and it is awesome.

Honna,

The Encore and Contender are two different guns both made by Thompson Center. I don't believe the Contender will handle the .308 round although that one is available in the Encore.

I have the Encore with the 50 cal muzzleloader barrel in stainless steel. I have a Leupold 3x9 Vari-x-II scope on it.

The rifle is exremely accurate, durable, well made.

This year and last year, sighting the gun in was a 1 shot thing, but I fired a few extre rounds just for the fun of it.

Two 50 grain pyrodex pellets and a saboted 240 grain Hornady XTP bullet...all you could ever ask for to hunt deer.

Thompson Center has outstanding customer service.

I am looking forward to purchasing a varmint barrel soon...just can't figure out which one I should buy.

I have a Contender and an Encore and I love both. I use the Contender with several hand gun barrels and the Encore with a Bullberry 22-250 and a T/C 223. They are probably the most accurate firearms I've ever used. And there's some kind of lure to a single shot piece for me.

I'm going to go for a set-up like VC111's next.
