Can you ID this slug?

I am not an expert, but couldnt the deer have died from lead/metal poisoning from toting a chunk of it around near his lungs and throat? Around here that is a trophy buck. I used to have some rifled slugs that my grandfather gave me with my double barrel shotgun when I was 13 yrs old. They where old enough to have the name pretty much worn off from the wax paper cases but man did they kick lol.

I think that those are Benneke or Bennekke something like that they are self rifling slugs..I may be wrong about the name..But i had some Benneke self rifling slugs and they was identical to that one.But as for it being a monster,I would have to call it a monster of a buck.

I was also going to guess Brenneke,or how ever it is spelled.I don't have a lot of knowledge about slugs though. It just looks similar to photographs I have seen of their slug.A shame to have the animal go to waste and to have it mess up your stand location.

Well Christine you beat me by 59 minutes. I was just heading out to the garage to take a couple pics of the Brenekke slugs. I knew it when I saw it. I shoot pretty much exclusively Brenekke slugs.
As for the front shot, I say take them if it's head on and you're entering the body, but not angled. It looks like they might have been trying for a high neck (spine) shot. Actually I'm quite suprised that the slug only entered and stopped so quickly. That is telling me it was a pretty far shot (over 150 - or more?) and the slug lost most of it's energy. Probobly explains why the deer got away too.
