Thanks for being willing to go through the effort Matt. You didn't lose a buck in Central IL by chance?

What a horribledeath for animal to suffer. All because a "hunter" could not resist a bad shot.

Not a monster? Oh that's right your in IL..lol

Christine, I wouldn't give him the rack. That was a poor shot to take, had he waited for the buck to turn, he'd have the rack. Keep it and put it to some use.

Christine; I'd have to go w/ Brenneke also, except that that rifleing fins on yours are in pairs, and the photo of the actual Brenneke slug are singles. Perhaps an older style Brenneke ??

Actually I'm quite suprised that the slug only entered and stopped so quickly. That is telling me it was a pretty far shot (over 150 - or more?) and the slug lost most of it's energy. Probobly explains why the deer got away too.
I have seen Brenekke no drop a deer at 20yrdss in ther ribs so don't bet on a far shot in the neck. i shot those one year and after i saw the deer had 5 shots in him and was still moving until a muzzleloader knocked him down all my brenekke went in the trash. and the first 2 shots were kill shots just barley broke ribs. so it's no wonder imo that deer kept on trucking and died a slow death with those slugs.

Looks like a Brenneke to me (Designed in 1897 by Wilhelm Brenneke in Germany). Imported and sold by Stoeger for many years, and for many years, the ULTIMATE in shotgun slug power & accuracty.

With any high power rifle that would have been a kill but them slugs are so big and dont have enuff FPS to do a hole lot of damage. Sad that the deer had to suffer for so long.
