RE: Can you ID this slug?
Well Christine you beat me by 59 minutes. I was just heading out to the garage to take a couple pics of the Brenekke slugs. I knew it when I saw it. I shoot pretty much exclusively Brenekke slugs.
As for the front shot, I say take them if it's head on and you're entering the body, but not angled. It looks like they might have been trying for a high neck (spine) shot. Actually I'm quite suprised that the slug only entered and stopped so quickly. That is telling me it was a pretty far shot (over 150 - or more?) and the slug lost most of it's energy. Probobly explains why the deer got away too.
