Ijust got my first this season (fourth in a row, third actually having some clue what I was doing) too, so I have an idea how you feel.

I already boned out one of the shoulders (the one with the bullet hole ) and cut it up into stew meat. Man, I filled two cereal bowls full of meat! I need to check out some venison stew recipes as well as roasts (for when I start carving up the two big hams).

Congratulations on your first deer, it sounds like a good eating one.
I shot mine archery t style this year so I spent some time taking my son out hunting more this year. He got a chance to shoot at 2 and has missed them both. One a week ago and one yesterday. The one yesterday was a monster it walked a cross the road we was walking on about 250 yards away. He is all excited now and can not wait till next year as the eason ended yesterday. I enjoyed taking him and all. Agai Congrats on your first deer.
