Default Got my first deer a 160# 6 pointer

I just thought i should tell you guys about my first deer ever, and it was with a bow. I went out at 3 and watched squirrels until about 5 when a heavy bodied buck came walken threw. Its funny how the squirrels on the ground made more noise than the deer did. Anyway he came straight for my stand turned broadside at 15 yds and stopped. Couldn't of asked for anything better. I let my arrow go and it went threw both lungs. The deer ran for about 20 yds, stopped looked around, took 5 more steps and fell on his side. I got a complete pass threw and the buck fell no more than 25yds from were I shot it. I saw it drop and it didn't move again. Waited 30 minutes(longest 30 minutes of my life) than went down there and was happy to find a 160# fields dressed 6 point laying there. My Nova Extreme with 50# of pull and 85 grain thunderhead broadheads on a XX75 2114 arrows did its job. I'm on cloud 9 rate now.

Congrats Duck. I can't wait to feel that sensation. I almost had a 8 point this afternoon but I was ground hunting in the wind and he got me before I got him. But I still got 3 weeks of bow season and then the bonus antlerless season in Jan. I'll get one. Good for you though. I say, spend the money and hang him on your wall. Send us some pics.

Congrats on the first, especially with a bow and a buck to boot!!!! I got my first with a bow this year after 3 bow seasons, I have hunted over 35 years and killed a lot of deer, but none got me as pumped as my first with a bow. Congrats again.

Duckwidowmaker,

I have a PSE Nova bow that is set to 57#. What draw length and arrow speed are you at, if you don't mind me asking? I am using a Carbon arrow and 100 grain broadhead now with an arrow speed of 213 fps and I am thinking of going to aluminum with a lighter broadhead.

Respect the woods, for you are part of nature too.
