Default Lucky hunting buddy

I have a buddy that I have hunted with the past 8 years and it never ceases to amaze my how lucky he gets given his lack of preparation. He always gets 2-3 deer with one good buck every year. He has had a few times when deer would be running full out only to screetch to a halt right in front of his stand or blind. For example, he missed a very large 10 pointer with his bow @ 25 yards two weeks ago, only to get a second chance at him at a closer range with his shotgun last Saturday, and he closed the deal this time.
Anyone else have hunting buddies that seem to always be in the right spot or get opportunities?
I guess I am a little jealous.

Im the guy, and I dont attribute it too luck! I factor in alot of variables in the choices of places I hunt.. some things people wouldnt even think of!

Last week I was hunting a very large private farm. 4 days into the season I wanted too see some different trees. I went too the heavily hunted public land across the road,, found a nice little spot everyone ignores and an area I had never set foot in. I walked in,, picked a spot and sat down. I popped a deer in just over an hour!

I told my buddies where i planned on going,, they said I was nuts for leaving the farm!
