Dead deer in public view???
#81
Yes yes , we dont want to offend little Johny by seeing a dead deer in the back of the truck. it's best to let him see grocery stores lined with dead chicken carcasses and mutilated cow parts, better not let little johny see some food with fur or feathers on it.
Get real !
I"m sick of the political correctness in this country.
I'll stop carying deer in the back of my truck when you get grocery stores to quit displaying carcass parts.

i have no opinion on this except that if someone is offended by the displaying of a harvested deer, then hiding/covering it is in no way going to change their views. (most likely). of course thats my opinion

Well I didn't read everyone's responses, but in WISCONSIN it was the LAW that you had to display your deer so it was viewable by passing vehicles. That rule was finally changed a few years back, but I would bet that 90% of the hunters in Wisconsin are not aware that they no longer have to.
WHen ever I transport my deer, I alway have the body cavity facing INTO my truck bed, so that people in other cars do not have to see a bloody cavity.

I don't see where PC comes into this at all. I would rather not offend non-hunters even though their view and habits might differ from mine. There are a lot of things that others do that offends me. However my answer to that is not to offend them back. Where would it end. To me the kill is a personal thing that I don't need or desire to share with hunters or non-hunters. Its simply the conclusion to a meat gathering trip. Like I said, take some pictures if you like and show them to those who want to see dead animals.
I would not condone breaking the law if a law said you have to display a transported dead animal. I would be happy to obey a Regulation that says they should only be displayed to DNR or Game and Fish people and otherwise be covered. Many years ago I worked at a gas station and I saw many animals on trailers and trucks comming from Wyoming and other wester states. This in hot weather and many were already full of flies and magots and had three or four states to go yet. I want my animal hung in a cool place and skinned within a few hours and not hauled all over "H" in the dust of gravel roads and such. To each his own I quess. I can sure see Reds Point though.

James B, you've said it very well! as I've said before, I AM NOT for any new laws on this subject! And after nine pages of posts, some still don't get it! It's not about offending Anti's! I am about as ANTI-Anti's as anyone could be!
It's about good taste, and common sense (meat spoilage!) It would not hurt to at least cover it up enough to keep it clean!
I guess this is just today's, "I can, so I will," "in your face,"attitude that is so common today!

We can set an example as hunters and have every chance to do so. When I am out and about in my hunting cloths, I make an attempt to open a door for someone or grant right away to someone. We can't control what the Anti's think and do but we sure can control what we as hunters do. I don't consider it PC or kissing up to the general public, I consider it being a good ambassaderfor my sport. When your dressed like a hunter, be nice, be the kind of person you wish others would be. It has to start somewhere.

. If you go into a grocery store you expect to see meat. On main street I would just as soon not.
