130 grain Corlokts
Anyone use these from their 270 for Mule deer? How do you like them? I am getting a new 270 this year. I may not get dies and stuff in time to work up loads this season. I use Federal Blue box ammo in my 30-06 but its been many years since I have hunted deer with the 270. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that where I hunt is open country and most shots are from 150 to 225 yards. The Mule deer there are big grain fed critters. I have shot several with the 280 with 120 grain Sierra Pro-Hunters. I have retired the 280 for a few years. Just felt like a change. ( not to much change though)

The 130 grain Core-Lokts will perform perfectly on mulies. You won't be undergunned. Shoot with confidence. In fact, at distances of 225 yards, you won't even really be compromised ballistically. I would sight the gun in at 100 yards. Memorize the ballistic charts out to 300 yards and have fun.

James I have used the 270 with 130gr bullets on our "large grain fed critters" and they always did the job. I never used the corelokt ammo as never could get it to shoot but had good resultswith the Hornady 130gr Interlockfor an over the counter shell. Now I use handloaded 130 NBT's when I take my 270, equally always been pleased with this choice. Any way like anything you'll have to shoot but the 130's will get her done.
I always sightedmy 130's +3" @100 for the flat land mulie or antelope hunts..this way out to 300 I just let her fly. If your think 150-225 yards is mostly likely the range you'll see +1.5" range @100 should put you about close to 200 yard zero. Not sure why I told you this as I know you have many hunts and caliber experiences under you belt[&:]. You know what to do, sofind the best bullet for the new rifle and go get you some of that"grain fed" meat!

I agree with Skeeter. I have not had good results with the Rem Coreloks. I have used Winchesters and Hornady's with better results but if they are working for you than you will be fine. IT IS THE SHOT PLACEMENT THAT COUNTS!
