I know Jack, they do it around here where I live, Its so checker boarded up its ridiculous. Theres excellent elk hunting there but you have to know someone to get through there property to the public land or know your GPS like the back of your had and trust it enough to keep you on the public land part of the checker board or your in trouble by some ahole land owner because your 1 foot on his side of the property by a simple mistake. I think it should be a law that if public land is landlocked by private land there should be an easement.

Locking up acess to large portions of public property is wrong because it belongs to all of us there should be a law for easements, but at the same time people who refuse to respect private property will get no simpathy from me too many rude folk out there that think just because there is a deer or elk or your place that it is there god givin right to come and get it. The people that own the land have made sacrifices in there familys life to have a private place and it should be treated as such.

Yeah I like that idea also
The Snowy mountains are that way, great elk hunting if,and only IF you can find someone to let you through, other than the 2 access points.
There was fellow around here a couple of years ago the bought on of those little bi-parachute planes,he would just fly over them it worked great for him.He land owners even tried to sue him,and press charge of tresspasing. He got off,but was grounded for not wating the mandatory 24 hour waiting period to hunt.It was not considered a plane but he was still considered fling.LOL

Well good luck in finding land to buy. I dont know what these guys are saying when they tell you to look into Az. The land is cheap, but you have to get drawn for the species that you want to hunt. Unless you want to shoot yotes and cougar. Check into land that offers over the counter tags. But as we all know that could change as well.

If you think thats bad, there is 600,000 acres of prime public land fenced off near meeker colorado. The mayor of meeker is the one that owns all the land surrounding it and will let nobody cross. 600,000 acres is a massive public resource, its BS.

Check with www.governmentlandauction.com but make sure you check out everything before you buy.

That government land auction doesn't look like it is tied to the government at all. Those are just realty listings on marginal land. The 40 acres in Wy. near the Red Desert, is just that, desert, no water, no power, no roads. Those parcels might be miles and miles from the nearest pavement and little likelyhood of finding any water. But if that are what you are looking for go for it! There might be wildlife but you still have to draw for a tag.
