SB 298, just got the new amendment from Juneau and am in the process of handing it out. Have been putting out the word in fairbanks since last week, for some reason no one else seems to know about it. Whose holding onto things and not saying anything now!
Read the last paragraph of the last post. Now use a little ingenuity I am sure you can muster up and idea as to what these groups are going after.
Legislative bills will be nullinvoid should this group have there way! But I reckon you already knew that too....
You've read how I feel, you've read as much as I can put out at this time, take the ball and run!

I didn't have a reason to hide the current bill, just brought it up in case you didn't know what was going on.
And to answer your question... "Whose holding onto things and not saying anything now!"
You. "as much as I can put out at this time"
I'll ask again, why can't you say more? If this is such a large issue, and might be the end of the DHCMA, why would you keep it to yourself? You apparantly like handing out information in regards to the details of what is going on in the DHCMA, why is this so confidential? Do you have any plans to try and help the situation?

The reason its open is due to the warm water from the power plant. Its opened up a little bit more now though, depending on how big, you might be able to get in behind AK Land, I doubt but maybe.....

burbot if you could see them. I bet it's open for a mile or so. Not much bowfishing in the chena otherwise.
Basically from the power plant down to around the university bridge area. Below its open every now and then. Along with somewhat above.

As far as pike are concerned, there may be a few. The chena is definatly not the hot spot for pike in the interior.
As far as a whitefish are concerned, I believe they are off limits in the chena for bowfishing, however I dont have a fishing regs on hand so I dont know.
I'll do some digging for ya tomorrow on it.

here ya go:
> Suckers and burbot may be taken with spear or bow and arrow the entire year
> Northern pike may be taken by spear or bow and arrow sept 1- Apr 30, and may be speared only by persons completely submerged jan 1 - dec 31 (except as noted above for lakes and the tolovana river drainage) this wouldnt apply on the chena
> Whitefish (excluding sheefish) may be taken by spear or bow and arrow sept 1 - apr 30 and may be speared the entier year only by persons completely submerged.

I really feel the pike fishing is poor at best in the mainstream chena. Come summer there are a few spots that are so so good. There are definatly better places then the chena for pike.
There are definatly some whitefish in the chena, we've nabbed them in spring on fly rods. Usually between my pard and I will nab one or two every year. 95% of the time this is luck however if we know they are there, we seem to do ok on them. (a pearl scud we've conjured up, or a pheasant tail nymph, both bead heads)
The burbot would be a trip, IF you could see them. I do know a fantastic sucker hole if you into that deal. To be fank, you can almost pick them up by hand if they'd sit still. This is right behind the big push of grayling we fish, in which usually push's the grayling out of our holes and farther up the chena. I am sure there is a way to catch them and I have no doubt you could shoot them. They are very small though, not really sure if it would be worth the time.
