Grandpa's been known to catch and eat a 'but or two. Don't really know if SeAk will take up the offer to hunt turkeys or not...might seem too easy...crazy turkeys hang around the house!

Juno grl - Hope you are getting along OK after your surgery. If you need anything, give us a call.

Also, if SEAK thinks the California turkey hunting offer from your Grandpa would be too easy - I could go along and make it "more difficult" for him! I could probably figure out how to call them - using a "California accent" on all my different calls. It would be interesting to know if the same birds are still in the area come Spring hunting season. In most other places they seems to migrate away about the time the shooting is about to start! Vacuum-packed, frozen halibut portions. . . . [8D]

Nim - This is the type of situation (in your pic) where the saying. "We're from the government, and we're here to help" probably got started! LOL (And I work for the gov't, which makes it even funnier for me!)

Have you been out driving sticks through any fish lately? Is there any place where it is ice-free and you can still do this?

I just finished cutting up a nice spike. He must have been a "late-bloomer" 'cause he was fat as a pig and had no sign of being through the rut! We get these once in awhile, and they are some very fine eating. I'm going out a couple more times between now and New Years, but it is pretty sloppy in the brush with the temps up in the 40s! SE AK may be doing some "drive-by deer hunting" out of his aluminum "fanny whacker" while he is here for the holidays. I don't know if he'd want an old phart tagging along - but we'll see!

Phish--SeAk gets in Christmas Eve...he's at least thinking about deer hunting one day, but don't know if he's made up his mind yet. Unfortunately, I'm not good for much hunting-wise right now...still have the stitches in and hobble around pretty comically. I get the stitches out on Tuesday, but it'll be a few months until I'm feeling well enough to tromp through the forest...so, I've got my sights set on the spring bear hunt. If I'm lucky (and with two achilles tendon surgeries in three months, what are the chances of that???? [&:]), they won't close the king crab season early, and I'll at least get a chance to scuba dive on those suckers in February or March!

Nim--speaking of tasty, did I forget to mention that I had venison heart for dinner last night? [] Y-U-M! My very wonderful brother-in-law brought it over on their way through Juneau to spend Christmas in Arizona with his family.
