1st kill

Got my first turkey yesterday @ 10:00am - called one up last weekend but took a bad shot and was sick about it, but got lucky again. Had 2 toms responding early that morning, but wouldn't come. Moved to a new location and hit the call and a hen got really excited @ 200 yards - she got to my decoy in 10 minutes. Between my calls and the hers, we got a gobbler heated up. The hen left and I had the bright idea to move down the ridgeand spooked my hen. I thought it was over, but my tom stayed nearby - another hen started up nearby and I started imitating her. I worked him for 20 minutes or so, and he finally got to about 60 yards - I went silent and he came the rest by himself.
Being a new turkey hunter, it was really cool to see a hen come within 20 yards - I didn't realize they would come aggressively to a decoy like that. One thing I learned is to let them know the hens there, then take it easy on em - their need for breed will take over.

Good job on your Gob. You've done well to play the dominant hen against her selfish ways. Especially being a new turkey addict. Having a Tom come in tow behind his gal makes for an exciting hunt. Looks like your Yorkie likes turkeys too.
Congrats!
