Has anyone shot a bigger turkey than 28 lbs?

Im fourteen years old and last year i took a 28 pound tom. He had a 8 and a half inch beard. His spurs were about an inch long. Has anybody ever shot a bigger bird? Not braggin just wonderin!!

hey man that sounds like a good bird!! im only 17 but two yrs ago i called in one for my little brother that also weighed 28 lbs, had a 10 1/2" beard but he only had 3/4" spurs. my biggest is only 24 lbs so you got me beat!!

..Well i have not,,but someone here in west virginia bagged a 31 pounder,but they was
bad news he was on tape baiting the turkey every day,and was fined and bird taken away
it was said to be NWTF state record..someone else he must have told how large the bird
was getting...im not saying yours was..that is a whoper of a gobbler,friend of mine
bagged a gobbler 25,lb two bearded 10 inch and 8 inch.1 1/4 spurs...

Have you heard the ol saying Bigger isn't always better , well I'm sure along the way as you get older you hear it
. Turkey hunting is the same, Turkeys can come in all kinds of sizes
O-man! this is not coming out right [&:] ,Turkeys are all different weights , and depending on how the bird has lived , would depend on the weight and beard length, sometimes the spurs can be different also because of the terrain he travels.
I have heard of birds and did see one in that weight one time in Indiana. The bird was so large it looked unreal. I've also shot 17Lb birds with 10in beards, and 20lb birds with NO Spurs ,, so its not uncommon to have a different bird once and a while, but I can almost say for sure,,, that there is not a Turkey Hunter out there that can tell the weight of a Bird before he squeezes off that trigger
