Turkey Calls For Beginners
#1
What type of calls would you vetran hunters recommend for a beginner to use for the spring season. I would like to get into hunting them and have no experience calling with any type of call.

Start off with some kind of a box call. Push button calls are real easy to use and sound real. You can yelp, cluck, and purr with them and those are the most important calls you can know. If you get to where you feel comfortable with one you might want to try a slate call as well. You can get all kinds of surfaces that all sound different. Then during the off season I would get some mouth calls and try to learn them. There isn't much time left to try to learn one now but it isn't needed. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Good luck this spring and make sure to let us know how you do!

Well I am not sure exactly what a good callfor a young hunter is, as this image should show. My 1 year old daughter is able to already make a slate yelp.

Sorry for the lack of sound.
Oh it probably isn't fair but she has been blowing a duck call since she figured out it makes noise. She had it one in her hand the day she was born. I got the pic to prove it.
