I'm wondering if anyone can give me some strategies for hunting the seasons where the turkeys dont gobble. this year i got season D. or 4th season. In the area that i hunt. The birds are not gobbleing and its like there isnt any turkeys. Wat should i be doing during this season which is different compared to if i had the first season or an earlier season?

What state are you hunting in? Here in Wisconsin where I do most of my hunting I like the fourth season. The hens are heading off to nest earlier and the toms now find themselves without a girlfriend. If you have no luck early in the morning I would sneak into an area where you have seen toms strutting later in the day. Set out a single hen decoy settle in and call every twenty minutes or so. Stay alert and listen for spitting and drumming, as sometimes they come in silent. One thing for certain this late in the season especially later in the day is if you get a gobble be ready he is probably comming in. Good luck and have fun.

When the turkies aren't gobbling. Get em to shock gobble. If I am not hearing any turkies gobbling I will start cutting and cackling with a gobble at the end. Alot of times this will give you the response that you need to move in and set up. If they are not coming in. Get to where you think you may have busted the edge of his leck and try some sweet talking. Try to find out where they are roosting and go in when it is dark. I have had great success with this. When it starts getting light I will start with some soft tree talk. When I feel that it is flydown time I will do some wing flapping and hit him with a fly down cackle. I located a tom one evening and took my dad in the nexy morning. I was able to talk the old boy out of the tree and right at us. If my dad didn't duck at the last min. the turkey would have flown directly into him. What a deal. Good luck on your hunt.
