I got very lucky and drew the best public land turkey tag in NE Illinois. Hunt is set for April 21-26. I use one hen & one jake, but will need to call more this year due to the heavy cover at this property.

Fortunately, for us Michaganders we have a over the counter tag in southern Mi. for a week in April. I will be going with my cousin and 2 of my daughters in Hillsdale Co. Mi. He will be out scouting as soon as the birds start to roost and he does very well down there. He also guides some turkey hunts for people so, should be able to get at least 1 bird this spring.

I hunt in theU.P. Delta Co. I use the late season OTC. It's a whole month of bird hunting, and by that time them birds are in their prime. My system works great.

As for decoys and calls. We usually run and gun. We do alot of stalking and pushing. We will set up in the A.M. with 2 decoys and some diaphram mouth calls with our bows. We do some good with that. Tough drawing back on them though.

I'll be doing my spring turkey hunting in lower Michigan this year with my bow and in my Double Bull T5 ground blind.
As for decoys and calls I'll be using my LifeLite BobbleHead feeding hen with a couple of Feather Flex decoys as well.
I have a Quaker Boy Hurricane waterproof box call and a Triple Treat 3 in 1 friction call and some assorted mouth calls.

Thanks for the info RD. I have been looking at the LX5 myself. I might need 2 of them though to hunt with 2 girls LOL. My cousin wants to run and gun with them but, were all bow hunters. Maybe I should let them use to 12 ga. so we can cover more ground. Anyways thanks for the info neighbor.......

Hey BullRider
If your thinking about getting a Double Bull ground Blind , talk to gregholland in the hunting gear section of the classifieds.
He sell's them new and he has a payment plan , he's a straight up honest guy that will work with you.
Check him out and if you do tell him RDHunter sent ya , don't get me wrong I don't get a commission or kick backs from him.
I just know that the blind is a good product and I like to help other HNI members in anyway I can
