Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

2-3/4" vs. 3"

The whole problem with the Lions is one four letter word---FORD!!! As long as people keep spending big bucks and filling the stadium to watch losers, they will probably never compete with the big name teams. I will say their QB looks pretty dang good, as do some of their core players now, so maybe they will turn it around. Let's just say we have had a tiff and call it good, as neither of us know each other, except by our typing, and I'm sure we'd get along fine if we met and shot the bull for a while! Peace Bro!

Well we can finally agree on something. Ford is a big problem for them. Fortunately, when he fired Millen and made Mayhew GM, he gave all responsibilities to him. That is why since 2009 when he was hired, they have gone 2-14, 4-12, to 10-6. Not saying they will go 16-0 this next year, but they have the pieces in place and there is no arguing that.

On that we can agree and Millen leaving was way overdue. I can't stand the guy and now he's an announcer! Take care and the offer is still open if you ever get a chance to get over to the left side or up to the Kalkaska area where I have had a place since 1973 and do most of my turkey hunting on a 234 tag!

Kalkaska?! Im afraid to go back there after I got lost in some two-track Tom Tom called a road on my way to Turtle Creek Casino. You'd have to point me in the direction of a paved road first! lol

If those were the only two options I had for a turkey gun than I would pattern my gun to see which one gave me a nice constant number pellets in the kill area at 20, 30 and 40 yards.

Once I narrowed down which shell and choke was the best, I'd return to the bench and spend more time shooting the 20, 30 and 40 yard targets figuring out what is my maximum range to effectively put shot in the kill area.

Good luck, hunt safe and have fun!

Well, I spent yesterday pattering the two guns. Long story short, 40 yds is iffy for the 3" mod gun but fine for the 2-3/4" full with 1-1/2 oz of #4's. Both guns are acceptable at 30 yds. Interesting and enjoyable time!

That's about what I would have figured for the two chokes at those distances. Glad you got er done and now are ready to bust a longbeard. Good luck!

Good to hear you got out to pattern it It's sad but true that a lot of people don't take the time to pattern their gun. I personally feel that patterning, scouting, calling in the house until my wife threaten to kill me is all a part of turkey hunting and I'd feel like something was missing if I skipped any of it.

Good luck, hunt safe and have fun
