I haven' t turkey hunted in several years (deer bowhunting is my obsession), but got back into it and killed one this year. I took it with a Winchester 3" magnum #6 shell that was probably 10 years old. I was ammazed at the high tech loads that are out there now from Federal, Winchester, Remington and others. Save me some shoulder work and tell me what' s working the best for you or at least help me narrow down the field. I shoot a Remington 11-87 with a Hastings extra-full tube and am partial to #6 shot. Is the 2oz. shot load or maximum velocity with 1-3/4 the way to go? Sorry for asking as this question, as I know it has probably been " asked to death" , but like I said I' ve been out of it awhile. Thanks,

I would say just get some new Winchester # 6 3" mag' s.
thats what I use and as you said thats what you used. they work JUST GREAT for me.
I would stick with what works.

as tree climber stated, if you like 6s any one of rem,win or fed will do the job.my experience has been that i have more shots over 40 yds so i use #4s.i shoot an 870 rem and it likes 4s,5s and 6s.however i would hesitate to risk a shot over 40 yds with #6 shot in my gun.
